Intro to Wool Appliqué with Lina Owen: The Stitch Show, Episode 3

Ready to try something new with your hand stitching? This week on The Stitch Show, I’m welcoming Lina Owen of Quilting with Latinas to introduce us to the relaxing, creative world of wool appliqué!

Wool appliqué is a wonderful technique for beginners because wool’s cut edges don’t easily fray, so there’s no need to turn under the edges. With simple shapes, beautiful textures, and decorative hand stitches, you can create something truly special.

During this episode, Lina will walk us through the basics of wool appliqué as we create a modern mushroom wall art project. We’ll explore how to prepare and position wool shapes, work with pearl cotton and a chenille needle, and practice four decorative stitches: the blanket stitch, straight stitch, French knot, and whipped stitch.

Our goal isn’t perfect stitches, it’s to enjoy the process, build confidence, and learn skills you can continue practicing at home!
