🧵 Jelly Roll Rope Bow Door Hanger Tutorial

Jelly Roll Rope Bow

I used a jelly roll from the Shoreline fabric line by Moda Fabrics for this bow.

I have a new favorite “just for fun” project and I am officially obsessed.

This Jelly Roll Rope Bow Door Hanger is one of those projects that makes you stop and smile every time you walk by it. It’s soft, dimensional, and the perfect way to use up a jelly roll in a creative way that isn’t a quilt.

This project was inspired by Kristy’s Handmade Creations, and I want to give her full credit for the original idea and tutorial. The moment I saw her giant rope bow, I knew I had to make one for myself.

And now… I already know I need more. One for Halloween. One for Christmas. Probably one for every season if we’re being honest.

You can follow along with Kristy’s original tutorial here:

She also offers a written pattern if you prefer step-by-step instructions:

I highly recommend checking out both - her instructions are super clear and easy to follow.

Here’s everything I used to make my Jelly Roll Rope Bow Door Hanger:

🪡 Watch Me Make It

I also filmed a quick version of me making this project and you can watch it here:

It’s a fun, fast watch if you want to see how the bow comes together before you try it yourself.

đź’ˇ My Thoughts on This Project

I’ll be honest, I did not expect to love this project as much as I do.

It’s one of those makes that is:

  • Fun and relaxing

  • A little different from quilting

  • Super satisfying to see come together

  • And instantly gives your space a handmade touch

It’s also a great way to use up a jelly roll you’ve been saving for “something special.”

Spoiler: this is the something special.

🎀 Final Thoughts

I can already tell this is going to be one of those projects I come back to again and again.

Next up on my list? Seasonal bows for Halloween and Christmas. I think they’ll be absolutely adorable in holiday fabrics.

If you make one, I would LOVE to see it. Tag me on social media (@craftwithbethany) so I can cheer you on!

Happy sewing, friends!
